Why does my engine stall when I turn on the AC?
Like many parts of your vehicle, the air conditioning system takes its power from the engine. It’s understandable that due to this, there may be significant pressure on the engine. More specifically, it may be too low to run the A/C and hence it stalls when turned on.

And for the hybrids, Honda actually put a commercial tractor style battery in them, with low CCA, robust plates and large reserve capacity (essentially looks and acts like a deep cycle battery). If I recall correctly, with the AC on.. the engine will not auto-stop as long as the climate control senses the need for the AC to be active.
