You may have a Dell monitor with an LCD conditioning option in the menu to improve image retention. The conditioning for the PC is minimal, but if you have an image on the screen for a few days, the image may need to be retained. Pixels can be polarized on a single charge, but this is not permanent, as is the case with PSPR screens such as CRT and Plasma.
Conditioning only works through the polarity of all the pixels, so they lose their polarity, and it is completely harmless.
Conditioning does not require cycling until most of the image appears on the screen.
