Listen to the pump and look at the pressure gauge. If the pump prime is successful, you will hear the pump start with a terrible noise and then quieten down as the water from the well flows back into the pump housing and you will see the pressure gauge on the pump increase.

Do you need a funnel to Prime a well pump?

Fill the suction port of the pump with water until the pump housing is full. You may need a funnel to make your job easier. When the pump housing is full, screw the pump port cap (or gauge) back on.
