What does Smint stand for?
They are known for their packaging that dispenses one mint at a time. The origin of the name is often listed as small mint. However, the iconic name actually derives from “Sugarfree Mint.”
How long do Smints last?

Does Smint expire?
Properly stored, mints will maintain best quality for about 12 months, but will remain safe beyond that time. The best way is to smell and look at the mints: discard any that have an off smell or appearance; if mold appears, discard the mints.
Do they sell certs anymore?
It was discontinued since 2018, possibly for having partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil, which is not allowed as an ingredient in food sold in the USA since then.
Are Smints healthy?
Smint contains a ‘Tooth Friendly’ sweetener known as Xylitol. Scientific studies over more than 30 years have highlighted the dental health effectiveness of Xylitol in preventing tooth decay, and recent research has confirmed that it is effective is reducing plaque.

Do not eat more than 10 per day.” I do note that the Altoids sugar-free Smalls mints also contain Sorbitol, though I don’t remember if they gave me trouble, too.
Is it OK to eat expired Mentos?
Like food, mints also have an expiration date. If mints are not stored properly, they will eventually go bad. Mints past their expiration date show signs of discoloration and stop giving off their fresh peppermint aroma. If there are changes to the way mints look and smell, they may be unsafe (and unpleasant) to eat.
