The display size of the favicon in the favorites list is 16 x 16. The files can be recognized by the extension .ico. There are special applications available to create these types of files. (see below) Once created, the favicon.ico file is placed in the root directory of the website.
Favicons are usually found on major brand sites, such as portals and media outlets. When a custom image is only used by a few places in a long list of bookmarks, exceptions are very important.
