Thought I had new glasses but not much change from online sources and my eyes but the last time I bought spectacles was a year ago and the spectacle maker was not my regular optometrist. Do you have my recipe on file? May I call and ask what happened?

If your exam is more than a year old, it may not have been given to you and probably won't. You will need to call them in advance and ask them about their PD measurements (this is what you need to order the prison online). So you have to find a copy. But I hate to say that I thought Lenscrafters and Pearle were doing what the law allows, but that's still not true. They may say that they will not give you your PD reading. This is part of ordering the jail and since you do not want to fill them, they will not be provided. Then calmly tell them that everything is fine and you will not use it for eye care or for your friends and family.
Most places have no problem delivering their PD. So the next time you need an eye exam, let them know in advance that you want an eye exam and a PD. If not, contact someone else.
Of course, you can learn a lesson from this when you get a copy of your prescription with your DP the next time you pay for the exam.
