Do trucks have shocks in the front?
They’re not. Every wheel on your vehicle has either a shock or a strut – never both, never neither. However, you may have struts on your front wheels and shocks on your rear wheels.
What causes front shocks to leak?
If your shock absorber is leaking, it is probably leaking hydraulic fluid. Your shock absorber is probably made of a fluid-filled cylinder with a sliding piston inside of it. The piston absorbs energy through viscous friction, which occurs when the hydraulic fluid presses against it and slows down its motion.
Are struts better than shocks?
Well, shock absorbers usually give you better handling, while struts give you a lower initial cost for the vehicle. If it continues to oscillate, the shock or strut on that corner of the vehicle is bad, and you always replace them in pairs, two fronts or two rears.
How do I know if my shocks need to be replaced?

How much torque does a Bilstein front shock have?
The shock bolts are 3/4-10 and require a 1-1/8” socket or wrench. The torque specks from my f53 chassis manual were 260 lb-ft for the front shock both top and bottom. The rear shock was 259 lb-ft top and 46 lb-ft bottom. I don’t know why the rear bottom is so low, but I’ve seen these torques referenced in multiple places.
