Connections

Connections are the people you interact with on LinkedIn. Connections are similar to Facebook friends, but are made with people you've worked with or want to do business with, rather than friends or family.

It's commonly found on LinkedIn, but is used as a general social media term for people you connect with, follow for updates, or like.

Relationships are mainly used on the social networking site LinkedIn and represent the people whose invitation you have accepted or vice versa. Similar to the Facebook friend request, but because LinkedIn is a more formal platform, they are called Connections.
