Can I keep gas in my generator?
Although removing the gas is highly recommended, you can store the generator with the gas inside if you use a stabilizer to prevent corrosion. If you are storing gasoline separately, use an approved gas container and keep it in a well ventilated area away from the house in either a shed or unattached garage.
Why does my generator not start when I Turn on the gas?
Sometimes when you run the generator in an uneven surface, there might be problems with low oil sensor. It may show you low levels even when it has enough oil. Also, be sure to have a look at the gas tank.
Why was no fuel drawn to generator from fuel tank?
The line was NOT blocked because when we were broke down on the side of the road, we were USING the generator to keep the coach cool (it was 95 deg that day). I guess I may have to ask their permission to be in attendance when they remove the tank and see what they do, so they don’t screw me this time.
What should I do if I have old gas in my Generator?
Then you should fog the cylinders with fogging oil by pulling the spark plug and giving a 5 second spray of fogging oil into each cylinder, then pulling the engine through a couple times to coat the cylinder before replacing the plug and wire. Next time you need it add fresh gas and you are good to go. But…that didn’t happen this time.
Where does the fuel line go in a generator?
I replace the fuel filter and hit the start button for a good 30 seconds and the clear fuel filter shows NO sign of fuel being drawn from the line that goes up into the top of the tank (I’m assuming that is where the generator fuel line goes, as I cannot follow it once it goes up to the top of the fuel tank).
Why does my generator not start when it is full?
If the gas tank is full, but no fuel is getting to the carburetor, there may be a problem with the fuel line or fuel valve. The fuel valve controls the flow of fuel from the gas tank to the carburetor. Make sure that this is set to OPEN to allow fuel to flow into the proper channels.

How do you run a generator without gas?
You must run the engine for about 10 minutes to cycle through the treated gas through the fuel lines and carburetor. Otherwise, your tank will be protected but the other elements will not and will get stale gasoline. As it is warming up, slowly turn the choke lever to the off/open position to increase the air intake into the carburetor.
Is it possible to fix a generator with old gas?
If you made this mistake or scored a great deal on a “dud” because a previous owner did it, you probably aren’t going to be out much more than one hour of your time and a bottle of carburetor cleaner. To fix a generator with old gas, it is easiest to drain the fuel tank by removing the drain plug on the carburetor bowl and opening the fuel valve.
