Adsorption Chillers
Adsorption chillers use a different mechanism than traditional chillers and are powered by heat rather than electricity. The cooling mechanism is still evaporative: the water turns into steam, but the re-winding is different. Instead of being compressed, the water vapor is adsorbed on the surface of another substrate, such as silica gel. Once the silica gel is saturated with water, the first chamber is cooled and then heated to remove adsorbed moisture so that the chamber can be reused.
